This Sunday, we continue our series in 2 Timothy—Guarding the Good Deposit. This week the apostle Paul continues his appeal to Timothy to guard the good deposit entrusted to him. Last week we learned that the first way to guard the good deposit is to not be ashamed of the testimony of Jesus and His word. In this week's text Paul teaches us how to be strong and courageous regardless of the pressure on us. Read 2 Timothy 2:1-13 in preparation for this Sunday's message.
2 Timothy: Guard the Good Deposit Part II, 1:8-18, January 14, 2023
This Sunday, we continue our new series in 2 Timothy—Guarding the Good Deposit. This week we read Paul's words to his protege Timothy and there's an air of concern. Whether from letters that Timothy wrote to Paul over the past 4 years since the first letter or word from those who've visited Paul in Rome from Ephesus, it appears Timothy is struggling under pressure. In preparation for Sunday read 2 Timothy 1:8-18.
2 Timothy: Guard the Good Deposit an Introduction, 1:1-7, January 7, 2024
This Sunday as we follow on in the Pastoral Epistle Series we started last September in 1 Timothy, we begin Paul's second letter to his young protege in the faith. Timothy continues to labour as the pastor of the church in Ephesus while challenges to his leadership persist, however the message in what will be the last letter that the apostle Paul writes before his death, is heartfelt. Paul wishes, one last time, to communicate his heart for discipleship in the church, to encourage Timothy once again and to pass the baton to one of his sons in the faith exhorting him and the church to guard the good deposit of the gospel!
